MINISTRIES

OF SPRING HILL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

MISSION MINISTRY

The Mission Team has two objectives: Matt. 25:  Jesus said 'when you do this for one of the least important of these brothers of mine, you did it for me'

1) To meet emergency and immediate needs of the church congregation and local community  such as food and gift cards, food banks, household needs, children's hunger, shoes and reading material, etc. Micah 6: 'and to do what is just, to show constant love, and to live in humble fellowship with our God.'

2) To help people improve their lives with donations to such organizations as Habitat for Humanity, United Church of Christ Mission Projects, One Great Hour of Sharing, Disaster Relief, etc. To meet emergency and immediate needs of the church congregation and local community  such as food and gift cards, food banks, household needs, children's hunger, shoes and reading material, etc.

FAITH FORMATION

Our team oversees Christian Education activities in the church, including nursery care, Sunday school classes, adult study classes, the puppet ministry, and a few special events. We select curricula and basic supplies for the Sunday school classrooms and for the nursery. We work with the pastor, moderator, and other teams to identify needs and concerns specific to Faith Formation at the Spring Hill United Church of Christ (Confirmation, youth group leaders and activities, additional teachers, scheduling, special events, etc). Our team supports the goals and efforts of other teams and provides assistance when it is needed. We value these events and activities as opportunities for our childrrowen and youth to learn about life, our faith, and the Bible. We also value these events and activities as opportunities for our children and youth to cultivate a sense of community.

SOCIAL JUSTICE MINISTRY

The Social Justice Team (SJT) is responsible for:

1.) informing the congregation of social justice issues.

2.) Encouraging church members to get involved in combating injustice due to, but not limited to, race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or economic disparity.

3.) Overseeing the ongoing success of the congregation’s Open and Affirming (ONA) stance and promoting activities to broaden the understanding of inclusiveness for all people in the congregations life.

4.) Encouraging and supporting efforts to care for the environment as God’s gift to humanity.

5.) Promote peace among people and advocate for just and nonviolent resolutions of conflict.
