Valentine’s Day often highlights romance, but scripture reminds us that love is much bigger than a single day or relationship. In 1 Corinthians 13, we hear that love is patient, kind and enduring, shown not just in words but in how we live.

At Spring Hill United Church of Christ, we strive to reflect God’s love through welcome, compassion, and care for one another and out community. God’s love meets us where we are and invites us to share that same love freely— with partners, neighbors, friends, and even strangers.

This Valentines Day, may we remember that love in an action we choose everyday and through it, we participate in God’s ongoing work of grace.

Prayer:

Loving God, thank you for your steadfast love. Help us share that love generously, though kindness, patience, and welcome, as we seek to follow you together. Amen.

Starting today, Wednesday February 11 at 6:00 pm: Pastor Kurt’s Bible study through April 1 (except Ash Wednesday) in the Conference Room.

Book: The Last Week by Marcus Borg & John Dominic Crossan. This book is available online. A few used copies will be available.

Saturday, February 14th at 8:00 am: The Environmental Ministry will be participating in our Adopt-A-Road cleanup. Meet us in front of Davis Hall.

Also on February 14th at 12:30 pm: Come join us for the “You Are Loved” Valentines Day Luncheon featuring live music and great food!

Sunday, February 15th: Join us for Sunday service at 10 am.  If you cannot attend in person, feel free to join us on our live Zoom webcast. There will be a special Mardi Gras potluck after service.

We are updating our church directory. Whether you are a member or a friend of the church, we extend a warm welcome to be in our directory! Billie Mcham will be taking the photos from 9 to 9:30 am before church and updating the information.

Canned Food Drive: We’re still collecting canned food, so please drop off donations in the Loaves & Fishes bin in the lobby on Sunday. January’s food challenge was peanut butter! We collected 427 jars and our goal was 500 jars! Great job!!

Our next challenge for February is canned vegetables! Let’s see if we can reach our goal of 500 cans! 

Wednesday, February 18th : Ash Wednesday. There will be an afternoon service at 12:15 pm and an evening service at 7:00 pm.

Also on February 18th at 12 pm: Ladies Luncheon at  The Wellington. Sign up in the lobby!

Saturday, February 21st 8am to 10am: Weeki Wachee Winds are hosting a Flapjack Fundraiser at Applebee’s at 4651 Commercial Way. Linda Matthews will be selling tickets before and after service for the next few weeks. Tickets are $12. Let’s support our fellow musicians!

The Weeki Wachee Winds are also having their Winter Series Concert on February 28th at 2:00 pm in the Sanctuary.

The St. Pauly Clothing Shed in the rear of the church collects gently used clothing and other items for families in need. Please donate clothing, shoes, belts, purses, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, curtains, and stuffed animals. Please do not bring electronics, books, household items, toys, pillows, garbage, rags or fabric scraps.

Glass Recycling: We now accept glass for recycling! Hernando County currently does not accept glass for recycling. SHUCC has found an organization in Citrus County that recycles glass. Recycling glass is open to our congregation and people in the community who would like to participate. Please thoroughly rinse glass before placing it in the proper bin located behind the dumpster on the back of the property. Recycling helps our environment! Broken glass is not accepted!
