Today, Friday, August 8th from 8-10am: volunteers will be in Davis Hall preparing for our next Food Pantry and the upcoming Treasures & Trinkets yard sale. If you can help with packing bags, stocking shelves or sorting items, or if you can take home and recycle our cardboard, plastic bottles or cans, it would be greatly appreciated.

Tomorrow, Saturday, August 9th: the Men’s Club is scheduled to meet at 9am in Fellowship Hall.

Also Saturday: the Florida Conference of the United Church of Christ is holding a regional gathering in Venice from 10am - 3pm. This event is one of a few that the conference has planned around Florida so congregations can network with one another and plan events in concert with worldwide UCC missions.

Sunday, August 10th: our worship service begins at 10am. If you can’t attend in person, you are invited to join our live webcast via Zoom. We will have Fellowship time after the service. The Community Outreach Ministry will meet in the Choir Room at 11:30am.

Sunday, August 17th after our 10am service: you are invited to our No Bug Picnic in Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome to enjoy some great food and lively conversation. Please sign up this Sunday so we know how many people plan to attend - and if you can bring a side dish, desert or supplies (ice tea, lemonade, bags of ice, napkins, etc.). We will also need help setting up and taking down tables in fellowship hall on Saturday and Sunday if you are able.

Wednesday, August 20th: the Ladies Luncheon is at Noon at the Wellington.

Also on Wednesday, August 20th: our Choir and Renew Musical Worship teams are moving their rehearsals back to Wednesday evenings in the Sanctuary. The Choir rehearsal starts at 6pm and the Renew team practice starts at 7pm. If you would like to volunteer to sing, play an instrument, or just help with weekly music, please email the church office so we can connect you with the music team.

Our Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry needs donations to restock our supply of certain items. On Sunday, please help if you can by donating canned meats (tuna, canned chicken) and canned meals (beef stew, meat ravioli).

Our corporate donors and non-profit friends often send us fresh veggies and frozen food to hand out, but your generous donations of canned items helps us round out the food we distribute each month. Thank you for your ongoing support of this important ministry.

Saturday, August 30th: we’re hosting another Treasures & Trinkets yard and craft sale. You can reserve indoor table and outdoor yard space to sell gently used possessions - or donate items to the church to sell. 

Our last two events have had some terrific bargains… so please save the date and start thinking about what you might want to sell or donate. While you’re at it, check out some photos of past Treasures & Trinkets sales on the SHUCC Facebook page.

Saturday, November 8th: from Noon - 4pm, we are holding our first annual Loaves & Fishes Appreciation Luncheon Fundraiser in Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $20. There will be great food, music, and a chance to win a cruise for two! Scroll up for more details.

School has started, but our Teacher Supply Drive is still helping local teachers stock their classrooms. You can drop the following items in the donation bin in the church lobby:

• Copy Paper
• Construction Paper
• 3-prong plastic pocket folders
• Pencils
• Dry-erase markers
• Glue sticks
• Crayons
• Hand Sanitizer

The St. Pauly Clothing Shed in the rear of the church collects gently used clothing and other items for families in need. Please donate clothing, shoes, belts, purses, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, curtains, and stuffed animals. Please do not bring electronics, books, household items, toys, pillows, garbage, rags or fabric scraps.

Sunday service greeters, welcome desk attendants, and liturgists can volunteer by signing up at the welcome desk in the church lobby on Sunday.
