Treasures & Trinkets Craft & Yard Sale

Saturday, August 30th: we’re hosting another Treasures & Trinkets yard and craft sale. You can reserve indoor table and outdoor yard space to sell gently used possessions - or donate items to the church to sell.

Our last two events have had some terrific bargains… so please save the date and start thinking about what you might want to sell or donate. While you’re at it, check out some photos of past Treasures & Trinkets sales on the SHUCC Facebook page.

Happy Independence Day

It’s the 4th of July, and we hope you have a fun and safe holiday today. In case you were wondering, here are some lesser-known facts about the day:

  • The Continental Congress actually voted for independence on July 2, 1776, so the vote took place before the declaration,
  • The Declaration of Independence was signed by most delegates on August 2, 1776,
  • Fireworks were used to mark the first Independence Day anniversary in 1777.

Enjoy the holiday!

Loaves & Fishes is Tomorrow

Tomorrow, Saturday, July 5th: our next Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry is from 9-11am in the rear of the church near Davis Hall.

Our twice-monthly food pantry typically serves more than 800 people and is one of SHUCC’s many community outreach ministries.

We’ve been blessed with an abundance of food to hand out to families in need - so we could use your help. Volunteers should arrive at 8am to help get ready.

Also Ahead

Saturday, July 5th: in addition to the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry this weekend, one of our tenants, Adventures in Music, is holding summer recitals in the Sanctuary all day. Please take care when parking and driving around the church as it will be a little crowded in the morning.

Sunday, July 6th: our worship service begins at 10am. Pastor Jennifer Long’s readings and message will focus on Deuteronomy 15:1-2, 7-11 and Luke 15:11-32. If you can’t attend in person, you are invited to join our live webcast via Zoom. Fellowship time follows the service.

This summer: due to the summer vacation season, we’re skipping most regularly scheduled meetings during July. The following meetings will not be held in July:

  • Men's Club
  • UpLifted
  • Community Outreach
  • Church Council
  • Deacons
  • Environmental Ministry

Exceptions to the summer schedule include the following events that will be held in July:

  • Loaves & Fishes
  • Ladies luncheon
  • Renew music rehearsals
  • Fellowship time

July’s Fellowship time is sponsored by the church’s LGBTQ membership.
